Although a student and teacher of English Literature, John’s passions were badminton, his dogs and camp life on Edna Lake.
John is predeceased by his parents, Leonard and Catherine and by his beloved siblings, Rachel, David and Angus. Also, many nieces, nephews, and their children, will miss Uncle John: Bruce (Elizabeth) McVittie and Leonora, Rachel, and Kathleen Alison McVittie (Philip Faubert) Catherine (Mike) Clark, and Kelly Stuart (Jen) McVittie, Caroline and Beatrice Mary Gilbert (Albert Poon), Matthew and Lindsay Sarah Gilbert (Dan Berger), Elizabeth and David. He leaves behind his stepfamily, Mackenzie, Mary and Alexander McCrea. John is survived by his wife, Meredith, brother-in-law, Robert McVittie, and sister-in-law, Diane Gilbert.
